Hafid Benzema was born in Tigzirt, Algeria. His father, Da Lakehal Benzema, resided in the village of Tigzirt, located in the northern town of Aït Djellil in Algeria before migrating to Lyon, where he settled in the 1950s.

Karim’s mother, Wahida Djebbara, was born and raised in Lyon but her family originated from Oran.

The couple has nine children, Gressy Benzema, Sabri Benzema, Nafissa Benzema, Karim Benzema, Farid Benzema, Lydia Benzema, Sofia Benzema, Laeticia Benzema and Celia Benzema.
